The ideal candidate will know local road networks, demonstrate punctuality, and maintain professional client interactions while working independently within a growing distribution team.

Qualifications

• Valid Code 08/EB license with a clean driving record.
• Previous driving or delivery experience in the region.

About the Role

Our client, a well-established distributor of essential goods, is seeking a diligent and responsible Regional Goods Transporter to serve the Queenstown, Eastern Cape and surrounding rural areas. This role is fundamental to our supply chain, ensuring that products reach our various client sites efficiently and safely. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of regional road networks, a strong commitment to punctuality, and a professional approach to customer interaction. You will be responsible for the secure transport of goods, vehicle maintenance checks, and timely deliveries, acting as a crucial link between our distribution hub and our regional customers. This position requires an individual who can work independently and reliably, maintaining high standards of service delivery in a geographically diverse area.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate a light to medium duty commercial vehicle to transport goods across specified routes in the Eastern Cape region.
• Ensure the safe loading, securing, and unloading of all products according to company and safety guidelines.
• Adhere to strict delivery schedules, ensuring timely arrival at all destination points.
• Conduct routine pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, reporting any mechanical issues or maintenance needs.
• Maintain accurate delivery records, including proof of delivery confirmations and mileage logs.
• Follow designated routes effectively, while also being able to adapt to route changes due to road conditions or other unforeseen circumstances.
• Provide excellent service to clients at delivery points, maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor.
• Ensure the vehicle is kept clean and presentable at all times.
• Report any accidents, incidents, or traffic violations immediately to the operations manager.
• Comply with all traffic laws, company driving policies, and safety regulations.

Requirements

• Valid driver's license (Code 08/EB minimum) with a clean driving record.
• Previous experience in a driving or delivery role, preferably within the region.
• Good knowledge of the road network in and around Queenstown, Eastern Cape and surrounding districts.
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and carrying goods.
• Strong sense of responsibility and time management skills.
• Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
• Good communication skills for interacting with clients and supervisors.
• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Willingness to undergo a background check.
• A smartphone for navigation and delivery confirmation purposes is essential.
