Job summary

The New York State Center for Recruitment & Public Service seeks a Regional General Mechanic (Regional GM) to cover facilities within a defined district in New York. You will lead building trades and mechanical systems maintenance, perform inspections, respond to emergencies, and supervise staff as needed.

Responsibilities include coordinating with facility managers, budgeting and planning, drafting proposals, and ensuring safe operation.

Qualifications

• Three or more years in New York State service in a maintenance, engineering or similar title with Grade 9 or above, performing mechanical/building trades.
• Five years maintenance work with building/mechanical trades, including some supervisory responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Major and minor repairs of building systems from foundation to roof.
• Maintenance of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire alarm and security systems.
• Supervise subordinate staff on projects and daily assignments.
• Assist in budgeting, purchasing and administrative tasks.
• Train staff to ensure safe operations and proper techniques.
