Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Minimum of five years of experience training canines and teams in explosive detection.
• Three years of documented experience handling an explosive detection dog in an operational environment.
• Prior supervisory experience preferred.
• Must be able to obtain a Known Traveler Number (KTN) within four to six weeks of employment.
• Must have adequate transportation to transport assigned Canine and Crate (inside the vehicle) to/from assigned work location; transportation must have operational climate control.
• Must be able to pass the applicable Contract Testing and Certifications for the program within four to six weeks of employment; candidate must maintain the certification requirements.
• Demonstrated experience in solving unique training problems with detection dogs and team and knowledgeable of how to evaluate and apply canine training principles, conditioning and standards
• Must have a valid Driver's License and a clear driving record for the last three years; must also be maintained during tenure of employment
• Effective oral and written communication skills with all levels of the organization
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time and multiple priorities to completion
• Problem solving skills with an analytical thought process
• Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
• Must be able to lift and carry various items weighing up to 100 lbs. Requires standing for long periods of time in all weather conditions. Requires intermittent sitting, walking, running, climbing, squatting, stretching, bending, and kneeling. Requires constant use of hands and fingers to feel, handle or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision and training to assigned Handlers and canines related to operational searches and training.
• Perform canine training, audits and administrative deliverables as required for assigned Canine Teams.
• Schedule and conduct recurring train teams for recertifications and remedial, sustainment, and advancement training.
• Provide temporary certified Handler duties as required for the program.
• Participate in CCSP related training to search cargo and identify explosive threats.
• Perform temporary Handler duties while commanding a trained explosive working dog as required for the program.
• Responsible for maintaining training records, care, and maintenance of assigned certified canine. The canine living area may be required to be indoors and climate-controlled during residence inspections.
• Develop and follow established training protocols in accordance with statements of work and standard operating procedures.
• Arrange operational exercises to replicate real life scenarios and enable canines to work independently in crowded environments.
• Transport, secure, and account for canine training aids, equipment, company vehicles, canine trailers, and assets.
• Assist when needed in instruction of new Handlers and Trainers.
• Must maintain all job-related certifications and required security clearances.
• Must be willing to operate company vehicle.
• Travel up to 70% to contract locations Nationwide.
• Work conditions vary from busy training to field work, with nights, weekends and holidays; weather protective gear may be required.
