You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. As a Regional Environmental Engineer (REE), you will be responsible for environmental compliance at AWS data centers in Missouri. You will develop standards and policies to support regulatory compliance, complete environmental performance analysis, establish and monitor metrics, and guide the teams in implementation of Amazon environmental standards. You will provide guidance and build effective relationships with internal and external partners, including government entities, contractors, consultants, design, construction, operations and other key stakeholders.

This position is based in New Florence, MO and will require travel throughout the state.

Key job responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee compliance with environmental regulations and Amazon policy;
  • Drive an environmentally responsible culture within the organization;
  • Ensure work performed by contractors, consultants, and employees is completed in accordance with Amazon standards;
  • Develop environmental metrics to measure, monitor and forecast performance;
  • Conduct thorough and accurate environmental audits for continuous improvement;
  • Prioritize and manage multiple technically complex assignments concurrently;
  • Represent Amazon at appropriate levels with governmental agencies and throughout the company;
  • Build collaborative relationships with various stakeholders to ensure risks are identified early and managed appropriately;
  • Assist in time-critical report submission to various governmental agencies;
  • Complete thorough and accurate environmental incident investigations and associated regulatory reports and develop appropriate corrective action.

Basic Qualifications
  • Experience with environmental regulations
  • Experience developing and implementing environmental compliance programs including regulated waste, water, and air regulations in accordance with applicable laws
  • BA/BS degree in chemistry, chemical or environmental engineering, or related field of study
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leading change in multiple site environments and influenceing those that are not direct reports or within your organization
  • Experience in a fast paced, dynamic organization
  • Experience in overseeing and managing projects and deadlines
  • Experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities, or experience in technical support
  • Strong interpersonal skills: strong relationship builder, solid influencing and negotiation skills, and ability to coach at multiple levels

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
