Job summary

CDM Smith seeks a Senior Electrical Engineering leader to guide a Technical Services team in New York. You will mentor staff, manage workloads, and ensure high-quality project delivery across electrical systems.

Responsibilities include staff engagement, utilization, project profitability, and QA/QC, with coordination with digital partners to accelerate new solutions. Some travel may be required.

  • Lead a Technical Services group and coordinate staff assignments with TDMs.
  • Drive staff engagement, retention, and development within the team.
  • Oversee financial performance, including utilization, direct labor, and profitability.
  • Ensure QA/QC and Health & Safety compliance across project delivery.
  • Coordinate with digital service providers to accelerate adoption of new tools.
  • Recruit, interview, and hire engineers to support project workload.

Job description

  • Delivering appropriate sales support, as coordinated with the TDM.

  • Approving time sheets and expense reports in a timely manner.

  • Ensuring your team members complete all required training (Compliance, Health & Safety, Ethics, etc.) on time.

  • Ensuring your team members are compliant with QA/QC and Health & Safety procedures for project delivery.

Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or Electrical Technology or related discipline. Professional engineering (PE) license.

  • 12 years of related experience.

  • Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Demonstrate a strong technical understanding of electrical engineering.

  • Experience leading teams developing engineering designs of moderate to high complexity to meet client project requirements.

  • Experience with electric master system plans, power systems, protection and generation models, facility power systems, sustainability/renewable energy systems, and other similar electrical systems.
