Regional Discipline Lead - Pumping Systems

The projected salary range for this position is $180,000 - $220,000 annually. Depending on skills, experience, location, and market conditions, the range may vary slightly.

Job Description

Dewberry is seeking a Regional Discipline Lead – Pumping Systems to support the growth of our water practice in the western U.S. The Discipline Lead will be a technical and market‑focused strategic thinker with expertise in pumping systems and hydraulics. The role is based in Denver with a regional focus on expanding our pump station and hydraulics portfolio. The successful candidate will work closely with western leadership and the water practice leadership to develop and implement strategies for sustained growth, best‑practice technical delivery, and mentoring staff focused on design and construction of pumping systems.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical guidance and strategic direction for pumping systems projects and design teams.
  • Help manage teams to respond to client project needs.
  • Establish and refine pumping system design standards and guidelines.
  • Engage with clients to maintain high service levels.
  • Engage with pursuit teams to support client positioning and marketing activities.
  • Recruit and build a team to deliver and continue to sell work as backlog grows.
  • Work with the water team to enhance growth and visibility.
  • Collaborate with water leaders as a subject‑matter expert to coordinate national client service, positioning, teaming, and project delivery.
  • Actively engage our local, regional, and national resources in support of these efforts.
  • Lead Dewberry’s engagement with the Hydraulic Institute to support strategic growth and technical excellence in pumping systems and hydraulics.
Required Skills & Experience
  • B.S. degree in Civil Engineering (M.S. preferred).
  • Active Professional Engineering license in one or more of: AZ, CA, NM, UT (prefer multiple states).
  • 20+ years of experience with increasing levels of project and client responsibilities for public‑sector water and wastewater projects.
  • Minimum 10 years of project management experience.
  • Subject‑matter expertise and high client/market credibility in pumping systems engineering and design.
  • Track record of managing projects, including scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong client retention and new‑business development skills.
  • Strong leadership qualities and ability to coach and mentor junior and mid‑level staff.
