Job summary

Tremco CPG is seeking a Regional Controller (Plant) in Georgia to oversee financial controls, policies, and processes for the Georgia manufacturing and distribution sites. The role partners with operations and corporate finance to support strategic direction and drive improvements.

This hybrid position requires at least three days on site and offers opportunities to lead budgeting, cost control, variance analysis, and capital project evaluations while ensuring U.S. GAAP compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting is required.
  • CPA or MBA is preferred.
  • 10+ years of operational accounting experience are expected.
  • Ability to influence others and drive change.
  • High-level analytical and problem-solving abilities; ability to organize data and draw conclusions.

We are currently looking for a Regional Controller (Plant) in Georgia, US. This position provides oversight for financial controls, policies and processes, and use reliable information and analysis to support and guide operations activities and strategic direction for the Georgia, US manufacturing and distribution sites.

This is a hybrid position, in which at least three days a week onsite at the plants is required. All sites are within driving distance.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Compliance Accountabilities
    • Ensure understanding of and compliance with internal controls.
    • Ensure alignment of plant accounting RPM policies and standard costing methodologies.
    • Ensure alignment with CPG operations accounting processes.
    • Safeguard company assets and monitor for fraud.
    • Assist in managing approval levels.
    • Liaises with internal/external auditors as required.
  • Capital Investments and Fixed Assets
    • Ensure projects are properly justified (financial models) and prioritized for maximum return on investment.
    • Monitor capital approvals, spending, and CIP, ensuring that projects are closed in a timely manner.
    • Coordinate fixed asset inventories and monitor fixed assets for impairment or disposal.
    • Assist in the management of capital critical spares and central stores (where applicable).
    • Assist in the evaluation of taxability of purchases and capital projects.
  • Finance Partnering
    • Support and increase financial acumen across all plant departments.
    • Liaison between operations, corporate finance, and the business.
    • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives. Measure and analyze both lagging and leading indicators (KPIs) to improve processes and overall plant performance.
    • Active participant in SIOP.
    • Assist in green belt projects and measuring cost savings initiatives.
  • Reporting and Variance Analysis
    • Produces executive summary report and plant metric files.
    • Tracks and reviews all manufacturing spending; propose reclassification entries or accruals as necessary and note anomalies for management.
    • Analyzes process order variances and works with plants to correct any errors.
    • Reviews purchase price variance accounts and works with purchasing and plants to correct any errors.
    • Monitor scrap and inventory adjustments against a target.
    • Provides weekly forecasting on costs of goods sold (COGS) and variances.
    • Measure inventory levels and throughput to assist in working capital targets.
    • Provide plant management team or corporate accounting with financial data as required.
  • Monthly, Quarterly & Annual activities:
    • Prepares monthly journal entries.
    • Evaluate OSD (Obsolete, Slow Moving, Distressed) inventory for adequate reserve balances, and work with operations to ensure inventory is being reviewed and disposition considered on a regular basis.
    • Assist in planning, monitoring, and reconciling cycle counts and full physical inventories. Provides inventory accuracy and completeness data and recommendations to leadership.
    • Assist with Census/Tax requests as needed
  • Annual Budgeting
    • Work directly with plant management on annual budgets including assumptions, data validation, and variance analysis.
    • Calculate annual labor and overhead rates for all cost centers.
    • Provide input for assessment percentages.
    • Prepare financial exhibits and variance schedules as required.
    • Perform ad-hoc projects and analysis as requested.
Education
  • Finance or Accounting degree (Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university)
Experience
  • 10+ years of operational accounting experience
  • CPA or MBA is a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to influence others and drive change
  • High-level analytical and problem-solving abilities; able to organize data and draw relevant conclusions, recognize trends and/or inconsistencies and take action.
  • High degree of flexibility and organization and the ability to effectively handle multiple concurrent sites and projects, a fluctuating workload, and changes in priorities
  • Detail, process, and procedure oriented
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to speak with various levels of the organization, both within and outside of finance
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel (formulas, pivot tables, visuals)
  • Familiarity with accounting/financial reporting software and tools (SAP, Hyperion HFM, OneStream,Power Query/Power BI)
  • Understanding of U.S. GAAP and SOX
Additional Information
  • Ability to work overtime when required for closing activities and special projects
  • Substantial amount of PC work is required
  • At least three days a week onsite at the plants is required. All sites are within driving distance.
  • Occasional air travel is required (Corporate office in Northeast Ohio)
