Job summary

YMCA of Greater Charlotte is seeking a Regional Director, Aquatics to provide strategic and operational leadership across multiple YMCA centers. You will execute association-wide aquatic strategies, ensure high‑quality and safe programming, and manage regional hiring, training, and scheduling of staff.

The role involves collaborating with center leadership to drive performance, member satisfaction, and community impact through strong aquatic experiences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a related field.
• 8+ years of progressive leadership experience in aquatics, including multi-site oversight.

Responsibilities

• Lead association-wide aquatics strategy across assigned centers with focus on quality, safety and service delivery.
• Provide direct supervision to center aquatic teams including hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management.
• Schedule lifeguards, swim instructors, and program staff to ensure coverage and cost efficiency.
• Oversee diverse aquatics programming (swim lessons, water fitness, safety instruction).
• Ensure compliance with YMCA, Y-USA risk standards and local regulations.
• Monitor data, safety audits, and feedback to drive improvements and meet goals.
• Develop regional staff development initiatives and ensure ongoing certification.
• Manage regional aquatic budgets with leaders; monitor revenue and costs.
• Coordinate regional responses to emergencies and incidents; report as required.
• Represent YMCA in community partnerships and water safety initiatives.
