Job summary

The City of Olympia is seeking a Refuse/Recycle Collector to perform scheduled route pickups, operate heavy hydraulic equipment, and perform basic maintenance. You will work outdoors in varying weather, handle hazardous materials responsibly, and coordinate with other departments for waste management during emergencies.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, ability to drive two- and three-axle trucks, and a CDL Class B or ability to obtain it.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required or preferred.
• CDL Class B license or ability to obtain within a designated period is required.
• Experience operating two- and three-axle trucks is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Picks up refuse and recyclables on scheduled routes and delivers to the destination.
• Operates hydraulic machinery (winches, container lifts, packers).
• Performs pre-shift equipment checks and basic repairs; notifies fleet services for major repairs.
