Job summary

Bethany Christian Services in the United States seeks a Residential Youth Specialist to provide afternoon and evening supervision for adolescent residents in a structured, therapeutic setting. You will support daily routines, document progress, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, upholding safety, confidentiality and compassionate care grounded in faith.

Weekend and night shifts are required; bilingual English/Spanish preferred; driving and MVR checks are part of the role, with

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one year of child welfare experience with children/adolescents.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
  • Prior experience with youth in residential settings preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to provide compassionate customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
  • Reliable with time-sensitive deadlines and tasks.
  • Positive role model and collaborative team member.
  • Ability to nurture, provide structure, support and respect.
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary treatment team.
  • Pass required medical examinations and physical restraint capability.
  • Pass annual TB test and Hepatitis vaccination preference.
  • Able to work night shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must be 21+ with a valid driver's license and 3+ years driving experience in the U.S.
  • Pass MVR check with reliable transport and insurance.
  • Pass criminal history screen and child protection registries.
  • Agree to agency Faith statements and commitments.

  • Document observations, incidents and resident progress accurately.
  • Participate in team meetings and provide updates on behavior and progress.
  • Assist with transitions such as meals, study periods and bedtime.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Are you passionate about supporting youth in a structured, therapeutic environment? As a Residential Youth Specialist, you will provide afternoon and evening supervision and care to adolescent residents. Your role is essential in helping youth navigate their daily routines, build positive relationships, and work toward their treatment goals.

How Your Role Makes A Difference
  • Supervise and support residents during afternoon and evening routines;
  • Encourage positive peer interactions and participation in program activities;
  • Respond to crises using nonviolent crisis prevention intervention (CPI) techniques when necessary;
  • Maintain safe, structured, and nurturing environment;
  • Document observations, incidents, and resident progress accurately;
  • Participate in team meetings and provide updates on resident behavior and progress;
  • Assist with transitions such as mealtimes, study periods, and bedtime preparations;
  • Other duties as assigned.
What Will Make You Successful

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred;
  • Prior experience working with youth in a residential setting, preferred;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;

  • Ability to work independently and exercise a high level of confidentiality;
  • Must be reliable with time sensitive deadlines and tasks;
  • Have the ability to serve as positive role model;
  • Demonstrated ability to nurture and provide structure, support, and respect to others;
  • Must be able to work effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary treatment team;
  • Must be able to pass required medical examinations and have the physical ability to fulfill the essential job functions, including physical restraints of a resident;
  • Successfully pass an annual TB test and document preference to receive or decline Hepatitis immunization;
  • This position requires the availability for night shifts, weekends shifts, and holiday coverage
  • Computer skills sufficient to perform essential functions including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Must be 21 years old with a valid driver’s license with at least 3 years of driving experience in the U.S. to operate a vehicle on behalf of Bethany;
  • Must pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check and maintain a reliable vehicle with proof of adequate insurance coverage;
  • Pass a criminal history screen, including state and local child protection agency registries;
