Pilgrim’s is hiring a Refrigeration Technician to maintain and repair ammonia refrigeration systems, ensuring safe and efficient plant operations in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires experience with refrigerant systems, safety training, and the ability to work with PSM teams. You will handle routine rounds, calibrations, and preventative maintenance while adhering to all safety protocols and shift requirements.

Formación

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2-4 years of ammonia or Freon refrigeration, boiler operations, and/or compressed air systems preferred.
• Clear understanding of refrigerant expansion and pressure-temperature relationships.
• Ability to direct and train operators.
• Working knowledge of departmental computer systems and PCs.
• Willingness to serve as a Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) Team Member.
• Willingness to obtain CARO/CIRO certifications.
• Ability to read and use dial gauges, micrometers, and precision measuring instruments.
• Ability to work around CO2 and chlorine exposure.
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical activities.

Responsabilidades

• Maintain, repair, rebuild, and adjust ammonia refrigeration systems and related equipment.
• Analyze, calibrate, replace, repair, and rebuild equipment per procedures.
• Maintain personal tools and demonstrate safe use of hand tools and shop equipment.
• Provide personal tools to operate systems and perform preventive maintenance.
• Comply with all safety policies and procedures.
• Be a PSM Team Member and maintain respirator fit testing requirements.
• Perform routine rounds and inspections of the ammonia system.
• Safely isolate and pump down sections of refrigeration systems.
• Perform line opening procedures per safety protocols.
• Receive and transfer ammonia within plant systems as qualified.
• Perform routine maintenance on ammonia compressors and related equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical controls on refrigeration and ammonia systems.
• Maintain engine rooms and compressor rooms in clean, organized condition.
• Work a swing shift schedule as required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Ability to work in environments with occasional exposure to carbon dioxide vapors (up to 10 ppm) and chlorine (less than 20 ppm).
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical activities including reaching, bending, pushing, and pulling.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, repair, rebuild, and adjust ammonia refrigeration systems and related equipment.
• Analyze, calibrate, replace, repair, and rebuild equipment and machinery in accordance with established procedures.
• Maintain all required personal tools and demonstrate the ability to safely use hand tools and industrial shop equipment.
• Supply personal hand tools necessary to operate systems, perform preventive maintenance inspections, and complete repairs.
• Comply with all company safety policies and procedures.
• Participate as a member of the Process Safety Management (PSM) Team and maintain respirator fit testing requirements.
• Perform routine rounds and inspections throughout the shift across the entire ammonia refrigeration system.
• Safely isolate and pump down any section of refrigeration systems.
• Perform line opening procedures in accordance with safety protocols.
• Receive and transfer ammonia within plant systems as qualified.
• Perform routine maintenance on ammonia compressors and related equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical controls on refrigeration and ammonia systems.
• Maintain engine rooms, compressor rooms, and roof areas in a clean and organized condition.
• Work a swing shift schedule as required.
