Our client (I.K. Hofmann USA, Inc.) is seeking a Refrigeration Technician to join a full-time team in Columbus, OH. Responsibilities include operating, maintaining, and repairing ammonia/nitrogen refrigeration systems, freezers, and related equipment for food production and storage.

The role requires 1–3 years of ammonia refrigeration maintenance experience, with high school diploma and technical refrigeration training. Ammonia Operator Level I certification is required; Level II is preferred.

Job description

Our client is looking to add a Refrigeration Technician to their team. This is a full time, direct hire role with benefits.

Responsibilities:

• Operate, maintain, and repair ammonia and nitrogen refrigeration systems, freezers, air conditioning, and chilled water systems for food production and storage.
• Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on mechanical and electrical systems.
• Keep logs, analyze data for maintenance planning, and inspect equipment using gauges and manuals.
• Order parts and maintain work areas according to GMP and safety standards.
• Collaborate with team members and assist in training as needed.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years industrial ammonia refrigeration maintenance experience required.
• Experience with nitrogen freezers and related equipment preferred.
• Experience with vacuum systems, screw compressors, blast freezers, storage freezers, condensers and chilled water cooling systems
• Experience in maintaining nitrogen flash freezers and Reco and Frigoscandia brand freezers highly desired
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in refrigeration systems.
• Ammonia Operator Level I certification; Level II preferred.

Essential Functions

• Remain stationary and position self to access equipment in tight spaces.
• Move, transport, and install equipment and parts up to 50 pounds.
• Detect and assess equipment conditions, communicate and exchange accurate information.
