Summary: A seafood Refrigeration Mechanic is responsible for maintaining and repairing refrigeration systems used in seafood processing and storage facilities. This includes troubleshooting and diagnosing issues, performing regular maintenance tasks, and ensuring that refrigeration systems operate efficiently and effectively. The mechanic may also be involved in installing new refrigeration equipment and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. Strong knowledge of refrigeration systems, electrical components, and troubleshooting techniques is essential for this role. The seafood refrigeration mechanic plays a crucial role in preserving the quality and freshness of seafood products.
This is a nonexempt position with an hourly rate of $35.45 to $37.70 per hour.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and to talk or hear. The employee moves objects regularly up to 10 pounds, frequently up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include distance, peripheral, and depth perception. The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and may experience wet or humid conditions and extreme cold. The noise level is usually moderate. For safety, may be exposed to high places, fumes, chemicals, weather, electrical risk, and vibration.
Special Training/Skills: Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively before groups. Ability to calculate figures and apply basic algebra and geometry. Ability to operate a variety of hand tools including welding machines, cutting torches, power tools, pipe/tube cutters, drills, saws, grinders, pry bars, hammers, and measuring devices.
