Job summary

Nortera Foods Inc. in Kentucky is seeking a skilled refrigeration technician to install, maintain and repair ammonia-based systems in our pack operations. This role requires reading blueprints, performing repairs on hydraulic pumps and related components, and ensuring safe, compliant operation of equipment on rotating shift schedules.

• Experience operating and repairing two-stage anhydrous ammonia refrigeration systems.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints/schematics and chemical manuals.
• Comfort working in confined spaces and handling mechanical/electrical tools.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain and adjust refrigeration equipment in the plant's cycle.
• Repair pumps, valves, filters, lines and motors in the ammonia system.
• Assist with boiler operation and related water treatment tasks.
• Ensure safe, compliant operation of equipment on rotating shifts.

• Pay or shift range: $25 USD to $32 USD

Pay range

$25.00 to $32.00 USD

Your Daily Role

• Perform proper installation, maintenance and adjustments of all associate equipment in the refrigeration cycle. Recognize potential problems, worn parts and perform necessary repairs
• Assembly, disassembly and overhaul of hydraulic pumps, relief valves, regulating valves, solenoids, filters, lines, actuating cylinders and motors
• Fitting and adjustment of chain and sprockets for drive units
• Assist with boiler operation and boiler room duties that includes testing water samples, maintaining chlorine and water softener system

Your Profile

• Prior experience in the operation and repair of two stage anhydrous ammonia refrigeration system
• Knowledge for the operation and repair of two stage anhydrous ammonia refrigeration system, screw compressor and booster, reciprocating compressor, rotary booster, evaporative condensers, ammonia pumps and controls and freezer tunnels for IQF processing
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and/or schematics, Knowledge of chemical manuals
• Ability to work in confined spaces
• Knowledge of mechanical and electrical technical equipment such as micrometers, calipers, metal gauges, metal thickness and multi-meter
• Knowledge of oxygen acetylene equipment

Hours - Pack Season: May to Dec. 6 pm - 6 am, 5 days off, 7 days on, 2 days off, 7 days on (rotating schedule)

Off-season: Dec to May 6a-2:30 p Mon-Fri
