Jobvite, Inc. is seeking a Refrigeration/Ammonia Maintenance Mechanic responsible for maintenance, repair, construction and modification of all refrigeration and HVAC equipment with emphasis on ammonia refrigeration and compressors and boiler operations.

The candidate should have 1–2 years in a commercial refrigeration setting, be able to read schematics, pass hazmat tests, and be willing to work weekends and rotating shifts. Strong teamwork and safety focus are required.

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years in commercial refrigeration or boiler operation preferred.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English.
  • Ability to pass a Prove It test.
  • Knowledge of NH3 refrigeration principles and plant systems.
  • Willing to work weekends and various shifts.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Installs, repairs, and modifies refrigeration/HVAC and boiler equipment.
  • Performs preventative maintenance and records information.
  • Trains other maintenance mechanics in ammonia refrigeration/HVAC/Boiler operations.
  • May be required to obtain state license if mandated.
  • Work with limited supervision and provide feedback to Supervisors.
  • Switch from night to day shifts monthly.

Job description

The Refrigeration/Ammonia Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance, repair, construction and modification of all refrigeration and heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment with special emphasis on ammonia refrigeration and compressors and boiler operations

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Installs new equipment, repairs and modifies existing refrigeration/HVAC and boiler equipment.
  • Performs necessary preventative maintenance on all equipment up to and including rebuilding compressors and boilers as needed and records necessary information.
  • Trains other maintenance mechanics in ammonia refrigeration/HVAC/Boiler operations.
  • Possess the ability and willingness to be state licensed, should this be mandated
  • Assists other maintenance mechanics in their duties when time permits
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and provides feedback to Supervisors on maintenance concerns
  • Ability to switch from nights to days monthly.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
  • 1-2 years in commercial refrigeration environment/boiler operation and or accredited education preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to read, write and speak English
  • Demonstrated ability to perform basic math skills including: addition, subtraction, division, multiplication and percentage calculations
  • Ability to pass a Prove It test
  • Working knowledge of NH3 refrigeration principles and understanding of plant refrigeration systems, electric and mechanical procedures
  • Ability to read and understand schematics
  • Ability to pass hazmat tests and perform hazmat & confined space tasks
  • Mechanical ability to analyze production machinery and their function and repair
  • Willing to work weekends and various shifts
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
