Job summary

Tyson Foods in Cincinnati is seeking a Refrigeration Maintenance technician to keep plant refrigeration systems running safely and efficiently. You will work cross-functionally across the facility, perform preventive maintenance, and respond to equipment issues to minimize downtime.

The role requires basic mechanical and electrical skills, ability to lift up to 75 lbs, overtime willingness, and a readiness to operate in extreme temperatures. Prior ammonia refrigeration experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months mechanic or refrigeration work experience.
• Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems preferred.
• Willing and able to work overtime and weekends.
• Able to lift up to 75 lbs and work in cold temperatures.

Responsibilities

• Conduct emergency repairs as needed.

As Refrigeration Maintenance, you will have the opportunity to work cross‑functionally across every area of our facility and influence company performance by maintaining our equipment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Include, but are not limited to the following)

• Provide maintenance support with moderate supervision to ensure the safe and effective operation of equipment and team.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance repairs on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic plant equipment.
• Conduct emergency mechanical or electrical repairs as needed.
• Troubleshoot issues related to mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment.
• Safely apply knowledge and troubleshooting skills to all assigned production equipment.
• Effectively interact with all plant personnel to accomplish plant and individual goals.
• Minimize downtime due to equipment failure.

Education and Experience

Must have minimum of 6 months of mechanic work experience or refrigeration experience in the work history section of the application or be a graduate of an industrial maintenance training program.

• PSM Experience is preferred.
• Refrigeration experience is preferred.
• Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems with an in‑depth knowledge of refrigeration systems, components, and controls is preferred.
• Computer Skills: Basic computer skills necessary for logging information, processing daily work orders, and completing required documentation. Ability to learn and utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Communication Skills: Effective communication and basic math skills required.
• Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 75 lbs. occasionally; ability to lift 20 lbs. frequently.
• Ability to stand on a hard surface for up to 12 hours per day.
• Ability to work in confined and tall spaces, walk, climb, utilize a ladder, operate a lift, bend, and stoop.
• Repetitive gripping, pushing, and pulling.
• Frequent overhead work.
• Temperatures inside the plant may vary from -25 degrees to over 100 degrees; outside work may also be needed.
• Basic math skills, including percentages, fractions, and measurements.
• Willing and able to work overtime and weekends.
• Willing and able to furnish your own tools.

Leveling is determined during the interview process based on skillset, knowledge, and experience. Candidates who have previously worked for Tyson Foods will have a minimum rehire waiting period of 90 days and are limited to 3 times of employment.
