You will troubleshoot, install, and repair refractory linings, working with cranes and mobile equipment while adhering to safety guidelines.

Responsibilities include reading blueprints, performing modifications, and ensuring precise mortar mixing for castables.

Qualifications

• Reads blueprints, schematics, and process diagrams to perform refractory tasks.
• Requires ability to work at heights and in various environmental conditions.
• ANSI fall protection requirements must be met; willingness to upgrade knowledge with training.

Responsibilities

• Receive work orders and instructions from supervisor or manager.
• Troubleshoot and repair refractory linings and castings on furnaces.
• Read and interpret blueprints and process diagrams as needed.
• Remove damaged refractory and dispose of hazardous materials per guidelines.
• Set up equipment for cutting brick to size and shape.
• Assist in loading/unloading refractory supplies.
• Safely set up refractory for movement using cranes and forklifts.
• Mix mortar and castable refractory to exact specifications.
• Install refractory materials in various furnaces; construct arches and thermal barriers.
• Repair or replace furnace castings; modify furnace structures and heat shields; provide technical assistance to engineering.
