Job summary

HarbisonWalker International seeks a Refractory Support Specialist II to act as on-site technical liaison for multiple accounts, using deep product knowledge to recommend cost-effective lining solutions and guide installations.

You will work with Customer Service and Sales to ensure safe, efficient lining, relining, and repair of furnaces, ladles, and tundishes, while documenting inspections and coordinating spare parts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Ability to safely use brick saw and bricklaying equipment to lay brick.
• Requires working knowledge of refractory lined units.
• Ability to operate a jib crane and ensure the rigging of the load is correct.
• Ability to safely operate a forklift.
• Ability to safely operate various hand and electrical tools.
• Ability to read, understand and work in conformity with work orders, as directed.
• Ability to detect and correct unsafe or hazardous conditions of equipment and work environment.
• Organized individual with emphasis on quality and the ability to meet deadlines.
• Requires fundamental computer skills, experience in Excel a plus.
• Bilingual a plus (Spanish and/or French).
• Requires two - four years of refractory installation knowledge or equivalent construction or manufacturing experience.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret refractory lining drawings and use brick saw to lay brick in ladles, furnaces, tundishes, etc.
• Assist customer staff with refractory installation methods including gunite, pouring, ramming, pumping, ceramic fiber and firebrick installation.
• Assist with cleaning and preparing ladles, furnaces, tundishes for repair and relining.
• Observe product performance at customer sites; document findings and review with team members.
• Work with customers to understand requirements and help achieve optimal product performance; monitor stock levels and place replacement orders.
• Perform preventive and general maintenance tasks on refractory equipment and document maintenance.
• Perform spare parts and equipment inventory counts and generate detailed refractory reports.
• Promote safety and 5S standards; participate in safety talks and trainings; maintain a safe environment.
