Job summary

J&R Collision Centers seeks a Refinish Technician to prep surfaces, apply primers, base coats and clear coats with spray guns. You will ensure color matching to original or custom requests and perform quality checks on finished finishes.

Job description

Refinish Technician

A collision center refinish technicianprepares a vehicle’s surface and applies paint to restore its appearance after damage from an accident.Key duties include sanding, priming, masking, mixing and matching paints, and using spray guns to apply primers, base coats, and clear coats.This role requires strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and knowledge of various paint and surface preparation materials, with potential training through vocational programs or apprenticeships.

It would be a bonus if the technician could manage small body repairs in addition to refinish work.

Key Responsibilities
Surface Preparation

Sizing, sanding, masking, and priming vehicle surfaces to ensure proper paint adhesion and a smooth finish.

Paint Application

Using spray guns and other equipment to apply primers, base coats, and clear coats evenly and without defects.

Color Matching

Accurately mixing and blending paints to match the vehicle’s original color or a custom request.

Quality Control

Inspecting the painted surface for imperfections and buffing or polishing as needed for a flawless result.

Tool and Equipment Maintenance

Keeping painting equipment, tools, and the workspace clean and in good working order.

Collaboration

Working with other collision repair technicians to ensure timely and high-quality vehicle repairs.
