Marathon Petroleum Company LP's Anacortes refinery is seeking motivated Operators to monitor, regulate and safely operate complex process equipment, transforming crude oil into gasoline, diesel, jet fuel and other products. Refinery Operators work together to monitor, regulate, troubleshoot and safely operate complex process equipment. Operators refine crude oil and other feedstocks into transportation fuels, such as conventional gasoline, diesel fuel, jet fuel and other petroleum products. To ensure safe operations, new hires must successfully complete operator qualification training. As an Operator, you are a part of a team that empowers people to achieve more, while contributing to progress in our communities and protecting the environment we all share.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Operators are responsible for monitoring units under their control while keeping product specifications and yields at a maximum. With knowledge of the process units, they must be able to assist other unit operators in their training and day-to-day operations. Other primary responsibilities will include:Managing and monitoring the outside equipment and control functions involved in the Refinery processes.Gathering data from these functions and analyzing and interpreting it into appropriate action as operational adjustments or recommendations.Must be able to start up and shut down the units and safely operate during process upsets.Possessing an in-depth knowledge of the physical portion of the plant.Minimum QualificationsHigh School graduate or GED equivalent, required.Must currently hold or can qualify to receive a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card. Note, information regarding TWIC qualification standards may be found at https://www.tsa.gov/twicWilling to work 12-hour rotating shift schedule including weekends, holidays and overtime, required.Willing to be on-call and meet call-out standards to respond to site responsibilities and emergencies.Valid driver’s license required.Physical RequirementsMust be willing to climb ladders and work at height. Work performed at ground level and at heights on concrete, metal grating, gravel, asphalt and piping surfaces, while climbing, lifting 40 pounds plus, and working in confined spaces. Operators are expected to be able to wear all protective equipment including self-contained breathing apparatus. Operators must use hand tools, and work both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.SafetyOperators work in a safety-sensitive environment and successfully complete a rigorous pre-employment assessment process, drug/alcohol and medical screenings, and a background check.ScheduleRefinery Operators currently work rotating shift work on a seven (7) on seven (7) off schedule and must be available for overtime.Pay and Benefits:Pay range for position (reflects current pay rates, subject to increase):Starting Rate/Initial Training: $36.21/ hour.Once Unit Qualified: $43.30/ hour.Operators can make up to $57.44/ hour depending on qualifications and time in position.The position includes a comprehensive benefits package including:401k plan with Company match of 7% on 6% employee contribution.Cash balance pension plan of 7%, 9%, 11% depending on age and years of service.Paid vacation, sick benefits, and holidays.Paid parental leave.Health/Dental/Vision benefits.Long & Short-Term Disability benefits.More benefit information can be found on www.mympcbenefits.comPosting closes Thursday September 24, 2026 at 11:59 PM PT.
