Refinery Operators work together to monitor, regulate, troubleshoot and safely operate complex process equipment. Operators refine crude oil and other feedstocks into transportation fuels, such as conventional gasoline, diesel fuel, jet fuel and other petroleum products. To ensure safe operations, new hires must successfully complete operator qualification training. As an Operator, you are a part of a team that empowers people to achieve more, while contributing to progress in our communities and protecting the environment we all share.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Operators are responsible for monitoring units under their control while keeping product specifications and yields at a maximum. With knowledge of the process units, they must be able to assist other unit operators in their training and day-to-day operations. Other primary responsibilities will include:Managing and monitoring the outside equipment and control functions involved in the Refinery processes.Gathering data from these functions and analyzing and interpreting it into appropriate action as operational adjustments or recommendations.Must be able to start up and shut down the units and safely operate during process upsets.Possessing an in-depth knowledge of the physical portion of the plant.Minimum QualificationsHigh School graduate or GED equivalent, required.Must currently hold or can qualify to receive a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card. Work performed at ground level and at heights on concrete, metal grating, gravel, asphalt and piping surfaces, while climbing, lifting 40 pounds plus, and working in confined spaces. Operators are expected to be able to wear all protective equipment including self-contained breathing apparatus.
