Qualifications

• Candidates must be majoring in Mechanical Engineering.
• Strong academic performance.
• Authorized to work in the US on a full-time indefinite basis without visa sponsorship now or in the future.
• Positions available spring, summer, and fall semesters.
• Availability for multiple work terms preferred.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Concurrent enrollment in a degree-seeking program.
• Military experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Become familiar with industry codes and best practices.

• Gain knowledge of various aspects of a refinery by working with refinery professionals.
• Work in more than one refinery area to develop a broad understanding of plant operations.
• Expand written and verbal presentation skills.
• Develop project management skills and create project scopes, estimates, and schedules.
• Oversee approved project design efforts and assist in the construction process.
• Support the refinery Maintenance Department through equipment-related improvements.
• Perform root cause failure analysis.
• Optimize maintenance programs for rotating equipment, including pumps and compressors.
• Troubleshoot fixed equipment, including pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and piping systems.
• Identify new technology in design, materials, and repair methods to achieve longer running times at lower costs.
