A major energy company is looking for a Refinery Accounting Analyst to oversee daily accounting operations and analyze refinery yields in Tulsa, OK or Dallas, TX. Job Description

In this role, you will conduct yields accounting assignments with minimal supervision and act as a resource and lead for less experienced personnel.

Job Duties
  • Analyze and maintain accurate daily refinery yields, determining profit and loss for the refinery.
  • Monitor the timely completion of routine staff accounting duties.
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations.
  • Supervise and complete special projects as required.
  • Maintain General Ledger Accounts.
  • Perform bank and account reconciliations.
  • Manipulate and analyze financial reports and records at a high level.
  • Monitor timely completion of complex yields accounting duties.
  • Lead the efforts of others and act as a technical resource.
  • Other duties may include:
    • Provide final approval & processing of accounts payable.
    • Review and code employee expense reports, research past‑due or incorrect payments, distribute invoices to the appropriate department, and maintain vendor master file.
    • Supervise and review work related to accounts payable, liquid balance reporting, exchange reconciliation, pipeline transaction reporting, and inventory reporting.
    • Set up amendments to contracts.
    • Reconcile exchanges and book adjustments as necessary.
    • Develop, analyze, and/or generate reports for plant management (actual vs. budgets, capital expenditures, unit operating cost, etc.).
    • Lead and review the preparation of income and balance sheet statements and other accounting statements and reports.
    • Establish, document, update, test, and monitor the company’s financial policies and procedures.
    • Oversee daily credit cards and EFTS.
    • Review and update all freight batches.
    • Maintain sufficient funds in General Accounts.
    • Reconcile and record inventory and bank accounts.
    • Prepare audit schedules for external auditors.
  • Perform any special assignments or tasks assigned by the superior at their discretion.
Experience

A minimum of 14 years of related job experience is required.

Education Level

A minimum of a High School Diploma is required. Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related field; Master's or CPA preferred.

Required Skills
  • Ability to perform complex accounting analysis.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft products and experience with accounting and maintenance software.
  • Broad and deep understanding of accounting practices and procedures.
  • Advanced ability to manage projects and assignments with extreme accuracy and efficiency.
  • Ability to manage and analyze detailed inventory movements for multiple locations.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Intermediate mathematical calculation, reading, and writing skills.
Supervisory/Managerial Responsibility

Lead and supervise a small group of employees as assigned.

Work Conditions

Office based with occasional refinery visits. May be required to work flexible hours and in a petroleum refinery environment.
