Job summary

Quest Diagnostics is seeking a Referral Representative I in Wood Dale, IL, working Tuesday to Saturday from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM. You will handle internal and external inquiries, resolve complex issues, and act as a liaison between clients and referral vendors.

The role involves specimen handling, shipment preparation, and data accuracy to ensure quality results. The position requires 1–2 years in a clinical laboratory setting or related experience, and strong client service skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1–2 years clinical laboratory experience.
• Customer service and/or medical background preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Retrieve, sort and process specimens for shipment to referral laboratories.
• Ensure sample quality and accuracy; identify problems with specimen types or missing data.
• Prepare specimens and packages for shipment per IATA regulations.
• File departmental documents and maintain records.
• Respond to customer inquiries about reporting results and service issues to ensure satisfaction.
• Communicate test results and issues to clients within established timelines.
• Investigate and resolve complex Referral Testing issues with appropriate escalation.
• Research test availability and select referral vendors using established protocols.
• Assist Client Services, Customers and Sales with questions and concerns in a timely manner.
