Paycom is seeking a Referral Coordinator to streamline the referral process and ensure timely access to specialty care. You will verify insurance, coordinate appointments with specialists, and serve as the primary contact for referred patients.

The role requires strong organization, excellent communication, and the ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining patient satisfaction. Prior experience in pre-certification and medical terminology is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of two years of pre-certification experience.
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT-4 codes.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Referral Management: receive and review referral requests via fax and software.
  • Verify insurance and eligibility for referred patients.
  • Coordinate and schedule appointments with specialist providers.
  • Educate patients on the referral process and assist with paperwork.
  • Maintain electronic records of referrals, authorizations, and interactions.
  • Prepare reports to clinic management and ensure compliance.
  • Perform light data entry and other related duties.

Position purposeThe Referral Coordinator plays a crucial role in facilitating the referral process, ensuring that patients receive timely access to specialty care and services. This position requires excellent organizational and communication skills, as well as strong commitment to patient satisfactionResponsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks:Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Referral Management:Receive and review referral requests from primary care physicians and other healthcare providers via fax and referral software management systems (ie: Leading Reach)Verify insurance and eligibility information for referred patients.Ensure that all referral documentation is complete and accurate.Coordination and Scheduling:Coordinate and schedule appointments for referred patients with our specialist providers.Communicate appointment details and instructions to patients, including any necessary preparations.Patient Communication:Act as the primary point of contact for referred patients, addressing their inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally.Educate patients on the referral process and assist with any required paperwork.Documentation and Record Keeping:Maintain accurate and organized electronic records of referrals, authorizations, and patient interactions.Maintain communication with referring providers regarding status of referralsPrepare and submit necessary reports to clinic management.Quality Assurance:Ensure that all referral processes adhere to clinic policies and regulatory guidelines.Continuously assess and improve referral coordination procedures for maximum efficiency and patient satisfaction.Light data entry and other related office duties.Other duties as assigned.QualificationsEducation: High School diploma or GED.Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of pre-certification experience required.Requirements for Level I Status:Entry level (1-4 years’ experience) and/or meet the basic requirements of the job with the need for additional supervision.Excess of 4 years’ experience if meeting only the basic requirements of the job with need for additional supervision.Additional Qualifications: Proficient knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10 and CPT-4 codes.Performance Requirements:Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.Proficient technical (computer) skills.Ability to multi-task and prioritize.Self-motivated with initiative.Strong sense of ethics.
