Qualifications

• Completion of the Corrections Counselor 1 training program or equivalent.
• One year of professional counseling or casework in a correctional facility with a bachelor’s degree including 18 credits in sociology, counseling, psychology, social work, corrections, criminal justice, or related field.
• Equivalent combination of experience and training meeting the above criteria.

Responsibilities

• Assist reentrants in setting and achieving goals related to employment, training, education, housing, and community service
• Provide crisis intervention, assessments, and referrals as needed
• Lead orientation sessions and workshops focused on reentry success
• Document progress, maintain electronic case files, and apply cognitive-based interventions
• Coordinate with partner agencies and represent the center at community events
