Job summary

Bureau of Prisons / Federal Prison System seeks corrections professionals with a background in physical education to foster a humane and secure environment and to help prepare individuals for successful reentry into our communities.

Applicants must meet basic requirements in education and experience related to physical education, sport program planning, and supervision of activities for diverse populations, with graduate education or equivalent experience required for higher grades.

Qualifications

• Experience in developing team sports, activities and tournaments.
• Experience in developing and overseeing a recreation program’s daily operation and primarily organize and direct participants.
• Experience in developing the skills needed for participation to include teaching the techniques and rules of sports to participants, officials and umpires in a recreational program.
• Combination of Education and Experience may be credited to meet the requirements.

Education

Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- physical education.

GL-09: Master’s or equivalent graduate degree or 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education
