What you’ll do:

The Reentry Resource Coordinator is responsible for duties at the Reentry Resource Center (RERC) in the Connections Work office and at the Berks County Jail System (BCJS). Responsibilities include providing information, assistance, and resource referrals to individuals involved in the justice system who are not current Connections Work clients. Tasks include conducting Barriers and Basic Needs Assessments (BBNA), identifying immediate needs, providing ancillary supports, facilitating warm hand-offs to community service providers, and enrolling eligible persons into Connections Work programs.

Essential Functions:

  1. Develop and maintain communication with BCJS Treatment Staff to identify potential clients nearing release who need services.
  2. Conduct BBNA interviews with inmates and walk-ins, identify needs, and provide information and referrals to community services. Offer warm hand-offs and ancillary supports when appropriate.
  3. Collaborate with the Reentry Works (RW) team to enroll participants into RW when suitable and eligible.
  4. Engage in outreach to justice system organizations and community service providers about the services available through the RERC.
  5. Build and maintain professional relationships with community organizations serving justice-involved individuals.
  6. Document information in files, spreadsheets, and databases; compile statistical data for reports and outcomes.
  7. Respond promptly to inmate correspondence and provide information about agency programs and services in Berks County.

Special Requirements:

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred, with strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Valid Driver’s License, access to a vehicle, and willingness to travel to various locations, including secure facilities.
  • Maintain valid personal vehicle insurance.
  • Obtain and maintain clearance authorization through the BCJS (Connections Work will facilitate this).
