Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction seeks a Correctional Case Manager (S) to supervise a caseload of offenders, perform initial assessments, and develop case plans in alignment with policy. The role supports rehabilitation through programs and transition planning before parole or release into the community.

Strong counseling skills and knowledge of prison policies are essential. Applicants must meet NC standards, pass background checks, and have a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Must be eligible for certification by NC CJ Education & Training Standards Commission.
• Pass a criminal background check.
• Neg drug screening result.
• Complete medical and psychological evaluations.
• Possess a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Carry a caseload of offenders and conduct initial assessments.
• Develop case plans and follow up on offender questions and problems.
• Coordinate major rehabilitation programs and transition planning prior to parole.
• Gather and evaluate information on offenders’ background and needs.
• Communicate effectively in writing and orally.
• Work under stressful conditions with incarcerated individuals.

Skills

Knowledge of supportive counseling

Education

Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice, Human Services, Recreation, or related field

High school or GED + 2 years custody experience

Equivalent combination of education and experience
