Job summary

Technic - Equipment Division in Pawtucket, RI is seeking a Design Engineer to develop custom reel-to-reel plating systems for connector strip, wire and flexible circuits. The role covers the project lifecycle from customer specifications through detailed design, fabrication support and startup.

The candidate will design plating lines and cells, calculate process parameters, generate P&IDs and 3D models, and support sales with technical proposals.

Qualifications

• 3+ years designing industrial machinery; web handling, strip or wire processing experience preferred.
• Strong communication skills and comfort working directly with customers.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks; PDM experience a plus.
• Electroplating or wet process equipment experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of plastic (PP, PVDF, CPVC) and stainless steel fabrication.

Responsibilities

• Design reel-to-reel plating lines, including payoff and take-up, accumulators, tension control, strip guides and drive systems
• Design plating cells, contacts, anodes, selective plating heads, rinses and dryers around each customer's product
• Calculate current density, plating thickness and line speed; size rectifiers, pumps, filtration, heating, cooling and exhaust
• Produce P&IDs, floor layouts, 3D models and fabrication drawings in SolidWorks
• Prepare customer approval drawings and support sales with technical proposals
• Support fabrication, assembly, factory acceptance testing and field startup
• Coordinate with electrical, controls, and project management teams to keep projects on schedule
• Improve and standardize existing machine designs

Job Summary:

Responsibilities:

• Design reel-to-reel plating lines, including payoff and take-up, accumulators, tension control, strip guides and drive systems
