Qualifications

• MS degree (or higher) in Marine Science or related field, or related field plus 5 years experience.
• Computer literate with word processing, database, statistics, and graphics programs; capable of advanced reports and presentations.
• Knowledge of SEAMAP field sampling protocols for reef fish to lead or participate in surveys.
• Experience as lead data collector on at-sea surveys; skilled with shipboard software handling hydrological and biological data streams.
• Proficient in fish, invertebrate, and protected species identification; knowledge of Gulf of America reef taxa.
• Knowledge of procedures for encountering endangered or threatened species.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate all aspects of preparation, execution, and completion of G-FISHER and PRDW surveys.
• Write/review survey instructions and reports; process approval paperwork.
• Set survey schedules and coordinate logistical support with Branch Chief.
• Manage GitHub project management for consistent communication.
• Act as liaison between ship and lab participants and TAS program.
• Coordinate daily vessel activities, personnel, vessel positions, ports, and weather conditions.
• Conduct data collection and sampling at sea per SOP.
• Complete incident reporting per NOAA requirements.
• Unload, clean, and store equipment; log data storage.
• Work with OMI personnel to manage Oracle databases and data-entry apps.
