Job summary

Coastal Waste & Recycling is seeking a dedicated Recycling Specialist to identify, separate, and recover recyclable materials while ensuring safe and efficient operations. You’ll contribute to protecting the environment and keeping valuable materials in circulation.

You will work with a team in a fast-paced setting, following all safety protocols and company policies. Coastal emphasizes collaboration, safety, and a strong community impact in Florida and the Southeast.

Qualifications

• Must be able to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Able to work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures and conditions.

Responsibilities

• Sort recyclable materials such as cardboard, paper, plastics, metals, and glass from the recycling stream.
• Inspect materials and remove contaminants to ensure high-quality recycled products.
• Safely operate around conveyor systems and recycling equipment following safety procedures.
• Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of safety hazards.
• Monitor equipment and report maintenance or safety concerns to supervisor.
• Wear required PPE and promote a safety culture.
• Follow all company policies, environmental regulations, and procedures.
• Collaborate with teammates to support other operational needs as directed.

Your Role

As a Recycling Specialist , you’ll help identify, separate, and recover recyclable materials while ensuring our recycling operations run safely and efficiently. Your attention to detail and commitment to safety help protect the environment and keep valuable materials in circulation.

What You’ll Do

• Sort recyclable materials such as cardboard, paper, plastics, metals, and glass from the recycling stream.

• Inspect materials and remove contaminants to help ensure high-quality recycled products.

• Safely operate around conveyor systems and recycling equipment while following all company safety procedures.

• Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of safety hazards.

• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and promote a culture of safety.

• Follow all company policies, environmental regulations, and operational procedures.

What You’ll Bring

• Strong teamwork and communication skills.

• Previous recycling, warehouse, manufacturing, construction, or labor experience is helpful, but not required. We’re happy to train the right candidate.

• Bilingual (English/Spanish or English/Creole) is a plus.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods.

• Frequently bend, twist, reach, lift, push, and pull throughout the workday.

• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.

• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures and environmental conditions.
