Job summary

Rumpke Waste & Recycling is seeking a maintenance-focused professional to perform preventive maintenance on waste management equipment. The role involves tracking work, monitoring machinery, and performing repairs to ensure safe, compliant operation.

Candidates should have 1–2 years of industrial maintenance experience and be able to operate forklifts, man-lifts, and skid steer loaders. The position requires flexibility, safety awareness, and teamwork within a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years experience in industrial maintenance is preferred.
  • Must be able to operate mobile equipment such as forklifts, man-lifts, and skid steer loaders.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all preventive maintenance duties to equipment according to maintenance schedules.
  • Track daily work performed and inventory usage in accordance with established company procedures.
  • Continually monitor machinery and make necessary adjustment(s) and repairs to ensure proper operation.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area and perform all duties in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and company policies.
  • Complete all paperwork and/or electronic updates as required.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by communicating effectively with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.
  • Operate mobile equipment such as fork trucks, man-lifts, and skid steer loaders as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Schedule: Monday-Friday 6am-8pm
  • Perform all preventive maintenance duties to equipment according to maintenance schedules
  • Track daily work performed and inventory usage in accordance with established company procedures and through designated computer software
  • Continually monitor machinery and make necessary adjustment(s) and repairs to ensure proper operation
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area and perform all duties in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies
  • Complete all paperwork and/or electronic updates as required
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by performing and communicating in a manner that promotes good relationships with customers, clients, co-workers, and management
  • Operate mobile equipment such as fork trucks, man-lifts, and skid steer loaders as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibility
  • This position will not manage employees
Skills & Abilities Needed for Position
  • Ability to identify, assess, and avoid electrical hazards in the workplace
  • Skilled in teamwork and working cross-functionally
  • Ability to comprehend and follow safety policies and procedures to determine the level of hazard, proper PPE needed, and job planning to safely perform the task
  • Ability to use heavy industrial shop tools and equipment
  • Ability to effectively use computer systems and software to perform routine job functions
  • Ability to comprehend and follow LOTO policies and procedures
Experience & Knowledge Needed for Position
  • 1-2 years experience in industrial maintenance is preferred
  • Must be able to complete necessary training to operate mobile equipment such as fork trucks, man-lifts, and skid steer loaders
Physical Requirements in a Regular Workday
  • Frequently lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 20 lbs
  • Occasionally lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 50 lbs
  • Rarely lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 100 lbs
  • Frequently working outside in changing temperatures, wet/humid conditions
  • Continuously working in areas of dust, odors, mist, gases, and other airborne matter
  • Frequently stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling
  • Frequently climbing and/or balancing
  • Frequently standing/walking; occasionally sitting
Additional Working Conditions/Aspects
  • Possible exposure to high traffic conditions and/or tight driving areas
  • Exposure to residential and commercial waste
  • Ability to work flexible hours; expected to work nights and weekends as needed
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States
  • Valid driver’s license (if applicable)
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment testing
  • Must be able to read and speak the English language
