Damar is looking for a talented and motivated Recreational Therapy Provider with a big heart to join our team. The Recreational Therapy Provider is responsible for providing direct recreational therapy services to clients. These services include assessment, treatment planning, individual sessions, group sessions, and documentation, among other things.

Responsibilities
  • Attend mandatory staff meetings and other meetings as assigned
  • Provide comprehensive recreational therapy assessment and treatment plan for each client served
  • Conduct regular home, community, or clinic‑based individual and/or group recreational therapy sessions for clients on caseload
  • Consult and collaborate with family and team members in support of client needs
  • Plan programming for group sessions in collaboration with team members
  • Interact with clients to demonstrate respect, acknowledgement of rights, and dignity at all times
  • Keep abreast of current treatment technology, literature, practices, and regulations
  • Take pride and ownership in Damar’s facilities and assigned work areas
  • Seek the best use of materials, equipment, and staff to maximize efficiency and effectiveness
  • Act as a good steward of Damar and/or client finances
  • Show initiative by identifying solutions to work toward improving stakeholder satisfaction
  • Prioritize duties in a manner consistent with organizational objectives and growth
  • Provide written documentation of recreational therapy services via daily notes and monthly reports
  • Submit documentation (assessments, treatment plans, monthly notes, etc.) per recreational therapy policy
  • Maintain prescribed level of productivity
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures as defined in the Employee Handbook and Damar Operational Policies and Procedures Manual
  • Complete and update mandatory training and other certification‑related items in a timely manner
  • Maintain documentation that is accurate and legible
  • Complete incident reports within 24 hours of knowledge, including reporting any suspected exploitation, abuse, or neglect of a client
  • Complete daily utilization reports within 24 hours of service
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in recreational therapy (or related field with required coursework) from an accredited program required
  • Directly relevant applied experience in recreational therapy and working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities is a plus, but not required
  • Certification from the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (CTRS)
  • Minimum age of 21 per licensure requirements
  • Valid Indiana driver’s license and driving record that meets eligibility requirements of Damar’s insurance carrier (for all positions requiring driving)
  • Be clear of any felony convictions, substantiated charges of neglect or other disqualifying criminal convictions
  • Successfully complete a pre‑employment physical
  • Favorably meet and maintain Damar’s background screening
Physical & Vision & Hearing Requirements

Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight (up to 35 lbs); to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; to travel to other locations using various modes of private and commercial transportation; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.

Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction.

Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
