Job summary

Amity Foundation in Louisiana seeks a compassionate Recreation Therapist to develop, coordinate, and supervise programs for youth that relieve stress and promote healthy lifestyles while building cognitive, physical, social, and emotional skills. This full-time, on-site position is non-exempt.

You will assess, set functional outcome goals, teach skills, encourage participation, and deliver therapeutic activities to reduce symptoms and foster growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related field.
• Must be certified by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC).
• Ability to work a flexible schedule; hours subject to program needs.

Responsibilities

• Assess participants using evidence-based instruments to determine functioning strengths and limitations.
• Interpret assessment results to set functional outcome goals.
• Develop, coordinate, implement, and supervise youth activities to promote stress relief and healthy lifestyles.
• Teach cognitive, physical, social, and emotional skills.
• Encourage participation in the treatment program.
• Instruct youth in leisure awareness and leisure counseling.
• Aide in adjustment to the PGYCC setting.
• Provide therapy that promotes wellness.
