Job summary

Centre For Neuro Skills in Bakersfield, CA, is seeking a Recreation Therapist to help patients regain independence and quality of life. This full-time role offers a weekday schedule, 7:30am-4:30pm, with work at the clinic, some residential-site duties, and community involvement.

The position requires a Bachelor's in Recreational Therapy or related field, 2–5 years' experience, and certification eligibility. ATRA membership and driving record are desirable.

Qualifications

• Educational Background: Bachelor's Degree in Recreational Therapy or healthcare-related field required.
• Work Experience: Minimum of 2–5 years of related work experience required.
• Certification in Recreational Therapy is desired. Eligibility to sit for certification and maintaining certification is required.
• Membership in the American Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA) is desirable.
• Must maintain a good driving record under the Department of Motor Vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients in development of skills, knowledge and behaviors for daily living and community involvement.
• Use therapeutic activities and community-based interventions to improve physical, cognitive, emotional, social, spiritual, and leisure functioning.
• Work full time on weekdays, 7:30am-4:30pm, at the clinic with some work at residential site and in the community.
• Locate and stay current on clinical and community resources; develop curriculum to enhance treatment; teach patients to use community resources and facilities.
