Freedom Behavioral Hospital of Bunkie in Louisiana is seeking a full-time Recreational Therapist to plan, direct, and coordinate medically-approved activities within the psychiatric program schedule for patients at the facility.

You will lead groups addressing leisure, social, physical, cognitive, and arts and crafts activities; assess patient leisure and recreation status; participate in the treatment team; and document responses to interventions to inform each patient’s plan of care.

Responsabilidades

• Plan, direct and coordinate medically-approved activities within the psychiatric program schedule.
• Lead groups addressing leisure, social, physical, cognitive, and arts & crafts needs.
• Assess patients' leisure, social, and recreation status as part of biopsychosocial assessment.
• Document patient responses to interventions and incorporate findings into care plans.
• Support the clinical department through teamwork and input into psycho-social needs.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Recreational Therapist plans, directs and coordinates medically-approved activities within the psychiatric program schedule for patients within the facility. The activities include leisure skills, social activities, physical/exercise, cognitive challenges and arts and crafts.

The Recreational Therapist assesses the patients’ leisure, social, and recreation status as part of the overall biopsychological assessment process. The Recreational Therapist participates as a member of the treatment team; formulating goals and interventions based off the identified needs of the patients’ condition and recommends appropriate recreational activity. The Recreational Therapist provides groups aimed at development of the patient’s social, leisure and physical needs. The Recreational Therapist demonstrates the ability to accurately provide the groups and document the patient’s response to the interventions. The Recreational Therapist incorporates the response to the group interventions into the patient’s plan of care. The Recreational Therapist provides support to the clinical department through teamwork and input into the patient’s overall psycho-social needs.
