Job summary

Gulfport Behavioral Health System is seeking a Part-time Recreation Therapist, Art Therapist, or Music Therapist to develop and implement recreation activities for various patient programs. The role involves defining treatment goals as an integral part of the interdisciplinary team and ensuring ongoing patient care and support.

This position operates Monday through Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., offering a range of benefits including health and dental insurance, 401K, and paid time off.

Qualifications include a bachelor's degree in a related field and at least one year of relevant experience, with the necessary therapy licensure or certification.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of related experience in a mental health setting.
• Certification or licensure in art, occupational, recreation, or music therapy is required.
• Successful completion of CPR and de-escalation training within 90 days.

Position Summary

Join a team where the Part‑time Recreation Therapist, Art Therapist, or Music Therapist is responsible for planning and implementing recreation activities for each assigned program. This includes defining and implementing treatment goals as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team and providing continuous patient care, observation, interaction, and role modeling to children, adolescent, adult and military patients. The position is Monday‑Friday 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and eligible for benefits including health, dental, vision, life, 401k retirement, and PTO/ELB.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Occupational, Art, Music, or Recreation therapy, humanities, social work or related therapeutic discipline.

Experience: One (1) year of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.

Licensure: Certification or licensure by state and/or national governing body in of the following areas: art, occupational, recreation, or music therapy.

Additional Requirements: Successful completion of CPR Certification and CPI – de‑escalation and restraint training prior to assisting with a restraining procedure or within 90 days of employment. May be required to work overtime and flexible hours.
