Job summary

Millwood Hospital in Arlington, TX, is looking for a PRN Recreation/Activity Therapy Counselor to plan and implement activity services for mental health patients. Responsibilities

Millwood Hospital, a 134‑bed mental health facility located in Arlington, TX, provides inpatient and outpatient mental health and chemical dependency treatment. The PRN Recreation/Activity Therapy Counselor is responsible for planning and implementing activity services for the assigned program, defining and implementing treatment goals as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team, and providing continuous patient care, observation, interaction, and role modeling to patients.

Shift differential pay is available for some shifts. Must be available to attend the full hospital and departmental orientations: Week 1: Monday‑Friday (8 AM‑5 PM).

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Art, Music, or Recreation therapy, humanities, social work, or a related therapeutic discipline; a Master’s degree in Art Therapy preferred.
• Experience: Minimum one year of related experience with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques and understanding of mental illness.
• Licensure: Certification or licensure by state and/or national governing body in art, recreation, or music therapy.
• Additional Requirements: Completion of CPR certification, CPI Behavior Training prior to beginning work, current First Aid certification, and willingness to work overtime and flexible hours.
