Job summary

Millwood Hospital, a UHS affiliated facility in Arlington, TX, seeks a PRN Recreation/Activity Therapy Counselor to plan and implement activity services within an interdisciplinary treatment team, guiding patients toward defined treatment goals.

The role emphasizes patient care, observation, interaction, and role modeling across age groups. Shift differential pay may apply; orientation for new staff is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Art, Music, or Recreation therapy, humanities, social work or related therapeutic discipline, or a Masters in Art Therapy preferred.
• One year of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques.
• Certification or licensure in art, recreation, or music therapy by state or national body; CPR, CPI training and First Aid completion required.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement activity services for assigned program as part of the interdisciplinary treatment team.
• Define and implement treatment goals and provide continuous patient care, observation, interaction, and role modeling to patients.
• Attend full hospital and departmental orientations as required.

Education

The PRN Recreation/Activity Therapy Counselor is responsible for planning and implementing activity services for assigned program, which involves defining and implementing treatment goals as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team and providing continuous patient care, observation, interaction, and role modeling to patients.

SHIFT DIFF PAY AVAILABLE FOR SOME SHIFTS.

Must be available to attend the Full hospital and departmental orientations: Week 1: Monday - Friday (8 AM - 5 PM)

Qualifications

Requirements

Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Art, Music, or Recreation therapy, humanities, social work or related therapeutic discipline, or a Masters degree in Art Therapy, preferred.

Experience: One (1) year of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.

Licensure: Certification or licensure by state and/or national governing body in of the following areas: art, recreation, or music therapy.

Additional Requirements: Successful completion of CPR Certification and successful completion of CPI Behavior Training prior to beginning work. May be required to work overtime and flexible hours. Current First Aid certifications.
