Job summary

Kaweah Health in Visalia, CA is seeking a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist to provide therapeutic recreation services and assess patients as ordered by physicians. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team supporting wellness and recovery in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Plan individual treatment following physician orders.
• Develop and implement patient recreational activity programs.
• Complete documentation in a timely manner.
• Meet departmental productivity requirements.
• Maintain surveillance of therapy services environment.
• Assist with policy/procedure development and budget.
• Assist with orientation of new employees.
• Participate in professional development and peer reviews.
• Establish and maintain relationships with staff, community, and outside agencies.
• Communicate to meet diverse patient needs in care plans.

Primary responsibility for providing therapeutic recreation services and performing assessments as ordered by physician. Integral part of multidisciplinary team supporting wellness and recovery of patients.

QUALIFICATIONS

• License /Certification Required: National Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) or California Recreation Therapist Certificate (RTC).
• Staff who will supervise interns must show proof of passing both National and State certifications.
• HeartSaver AED Kaweah Health approved crisis intervention training within 60 days of hire/transfer.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Additional Assists in the development of policies and procedures, and budget.
• Assists with orientation of new employees.
• Participates in own professional development through continuing education to remain current in new treatment procedures.
• May also participate in professional organization activities.
• Participates in employee evaluation process via peer reviews as requested.
• Establishes, cultivates and maintains good relationships with all staff, the community, and outside organizations and agencies.
• Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and services appropriate to the population served on the assigned unit or work area.
• Knowledgeable of growth and development for all patient/family cultural, linguistic, spiritual, gender, and age specific needs.
• Able to effectively communicate and care for patient and family as reflected in the Plan for Provision of Care.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Pay Range $27.90 -$41.85
