Job summary

Target Hospitality Corp. is seeking a Recreation Supervisor to lead lodge recreation operations on a six-weeks-on, two-weeks-off rotation. You will supervise staff, manage programming, and ensure safety across fitness and leisure facilities in remote environments.

This role requires CPR, AED and first aid certifications, strong guest service, and the ability to work independently in a remote setting while coordinating with housekeeping and maintenance teams.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years experience in recreation, fitness, hospitality, or guest services.
  • 1+ years of supervisory or team lead experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.
  • CPR and AED certification required, or the ability to obtain it within the first 90 days.
  • First aid certification required.
  • Experience planning and running events, activities, or recreation programming.
  • Working knowledge of fitness equipment operation, safety, and basic upkeep.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office for scheduling, tracking, and reporting.
  • Ability to work within a team environment.
  • Must be able to travel and work long rotations away from home.
  • Must pass a background check and urinalysis.
  • Must provide your own transportation to and from the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily inspections of all recreation areas for cleanliness, safety hazards, and equipment condition.
  • Coordinate with Housekeeping and Maintenance on cleaning schedules, repairs, and facility upkeep for recreation spaces.
  • Document and report all incidents, injuries, and near misses in recreation areas in accordance with company procedures.
  • Ensure recreation areas are stocked with required safety equipment, including first aid supplies and AED access where applicable.

Job Title: Recreation Supervisor
Reports to: Lodge Manager
Level: Hourly
Schedule: 6 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotation, or as per manager’s discretion and business needs

SCOPE

Responsible for leading the day-to-day operation of the lodge recreation facilities and programming — supervising recreation staff, maintaining safe and clean fitness and leisure spaces, and delivering activities that support guest morale and wellbeing during long rotations.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Accountable and responsible for maintaining a safety culture, following all SOPs, JSAs, and policies and procedures as set out by Target Hospitality.
  • Direct the day-to-day operation of all lodge recreation facilities, including the fitness center, game rooms, theatre and lounge areas, and outdoor recreation spaces.
  • Supervise and direct recreation staff, including scheduling, task assignment, and coaching to service standards.
  • Plan, promote, and run recreation programming and events, such as tournaments, movie nights, fitness challenges, and holiday activities.
  • Maintain fitness and recreation equipment in safe, clean, working condition, and remove unsafe equipment from service immediately.
  • Conduct daily inspections of all recreation areas for cleanliness, safety hazards, and equipment condition.
  • Manage recreation equipment inventory, checkout and return processes, and supply ordering within budget.
  • Enforce facility rules, hours of operation, and guest conduct standards in a professional and consistent manner.
  • Track guest participation and gather feedback to shape programming that reflects what guests actually want.
  • Coordinate with Housekeeping and Maintenance on cleaning schedules, repairs, and facility upkeep for recreation spaces.
  • Document and report all incidents, injuries, and near misses in recreation areas in accordance with company procedures.
  • Ensure recreation areas are stocked with required safety equipment, including first aid supplies and AED access where applicable.
  • Exceed our guests’ needs by providing world-class customer service.
  • Attend all safety meetings and participate in Target Hospitality emergency response procedures.
  • Additional duties may be assigned by a supervisor or manager.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Stand and walk for long periods of time, up to 12 hours or more, with scheduled breaks.
  • Short- and long-distance walking required between recreation facilities.
  • Use of stairs and step stools.
  • Use force when pushing and pulling carts or equipment that weigh on average 50 lbs.
  • Frequently lift an average weight of 25 lbs with a maximum of 50 lbs. Where weights may exceed 50 lbs, the assistance of another person or a lifting aid is mandatory.
  • Set up and tear down tables, chairs, and equipment for events and activities.
  • Must be able to crouch, bend neck, back, and torso from waist to floor, and must be able to twist from left to right and right to left.
  • Frequently reach below waist, waist to shoulder, and above shoulder, with frequent neck, back, and torso twisting from left to right without restriction.
  • Ability to demonstrate use of fitness equipment safely.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT
  • Ability to hear and understand verbal instruction as well as other sounds such as safety alarms and signals.
  • Must be able to see without impairment for inspection purposes, and able to read small text such as product warning labels and equipment instructions.
  • Exposure to extreme hot and cold environments when supporting outdoor recreation areas.
  • Ability to work within a rotational schedule of 6 weeks on and 2 weeks off, or as per manager’s discretion and business needs.
  • Recreation facilities are busiest outside of guest work hours, so evening, early morning, and weekend coverage is required.
  • Ability to work safely and navigate within small, close quarters and congested areas.
  • May be exposed periodically to elevated noise and surroundings.
  • Exposure to cleaning and disinfecting chemicals used on recreation and fitness equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 2+ years experience in recreation, fitness, hospitality, or guest services, preferably in a remote camp or hotel/hospitality environment.
  • 1+ years of supervisory or team lead experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and orally, in English.
  • Current CPR and AED certification required, or the ability to obtain it within the first 90 days.
  • First aid certification required.
  • Experience planning and running events, activities, or recreation programming.
  • Working knowledge of fitness equipment operation, safety, and basic upkeep.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office for scheduling, tracking, and reporting.
  • Ability to work within a team environment.
  • Must be able to work effectively and efficiently with or without supervision.
  • Strong prioritization and time management skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel and work long rotations away from home.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and urinalysis.
  • Must provide your own transportation to and from the facility.
