Job summary

The City of Galveston is seeking a Recreation Assistant to support both full- and part-time staff, supervise participants, help set up facilities for programs, and maintain a clean, sanitary facility.

Primary duties include planning recreation programs, coordinating use of City athletic facilities, and delivering courteous service to citizens, visitors, and staff while maintaining records and confidentiality as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to interact with patrons and supervise participants.

Responsibilities

• Participates in planning and development of recreation programs.
• Makes recommendations and provides direction for recreation activities.
• Works with recreation participants and instructors to provide community recreation.
• Reports any and all special recreation problems to the supervisor.
• Maintain records of recreational activities.
• Coordinates use of City athletic facilities with other groups and organizations.
• Demonstrates courteous and cooperative behavior with citizens, visitors, and City staff; maintains confidentiality; performs other duties as required.
