Job summary

Epic Healthcare Management is seeking a Recreation Lead for its Waterview Hills and Salem Hills Rehabilitation & Healthcare facilities in Westchester County, NY. The role focuses on planning and delivering engaging recreational activities to support residents’ overall well‑being.

You will collaborate with nursing and therapy teams, adapt programs to individual abilities, and emphasize safety and quality of life in a skilled nursing environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework in Recreation Therapy, Gerontology, or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or senior services preferred.
  • Knowledge of dementia care and age-appropriate programming.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt activities to residents’ physical and cognitive abilities.
  • Compassionate, patient, and resident-centered approach.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including some weekends or holidays.
  • Prior geriatric patient experience is desirable.
  • Must utilize good judgment in emergency situations.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and lead therapeutic recreational activities for residents in a Skilled Nursing Facility.
  • Support residents’ physical, emotional, cognitive, and social well‑being through engaging programs.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff, therapy teams, and families to align activities with care plans.
  • Lead daily recreational and therapeutic activities and adapt programs to individual needs.
  • Supervise group and one-on-one activities, including memory care programming.
  • Document participation and progress in accordance with regulations.
  • Ensure resident safety and follow facility policies and care plans.
  • Prepare activity materials and maintain organized spaces; promote resident engagement.

Together, these facilities offer patients the best rehab and nursing care they can obtain after their hospital discharge.

  • The Recreation Lead is responsible for planning, coordinating, and leading therapeutic recreational activities for residents in a Skilled Nursing Facility.
  • This role supports residents’ physical, emotional, cognitive, and social well-being by implementing engaging programs that enhance quality of life.
  • The Recreation Lead works closely with nursing staff, therapy teams, and families to ensure activities are appropriate to residents’ abilities, care plans, and individual interests.
  • The position requires strong leadership, compassion, creativity, and knowledge of senior care environments, including dementia-sensitive programming and safety protocols.
  • Recreation Lead plans and leads daily recreational and therapeutic activities for residents

Requirements
