City of Raleigh is seeking Recreation Instructors to lead a variety of classes for Active Adults (typically 50+). Centers host fitness, art, educational and social activities for Raleigh residents.

In addition to teaching, the role assists with program marketing. Applicants should be at least 18 and have at least one year of related experience; experience with older adults is preferred. Positions are at multiple City facilities listed in the posting.

Job description

Recreation Instructors are needed to various classes for our Active Adult population. Our centers cater to retired adults generally aged 50- and older. We offer a variety of classes including fitness, art, educational, and social activities.

Active Adult Classes are offered at the following centers along with a select number of classes at other City of Raleigh Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources facilities.

ADA and Other Requirements:

Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.

Medium Work:

Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Working Conditions:

The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. No effective protection from weather, activities occur outside. The worker is subject to noise.
