City of Marina is seeking an on-site Recreation Instructor to manage a recreation center, lead program activities, and register participants for classes. The role includes preparing promotional materials and monthly calendars, while ensuring compliance with city policies.
The position requires the ability to train participants, coordinate programs, and maintain positive relations with the public and staff, in varied weather and environment conditions.
Plans, coordinates and promotes recreational programs and activities; develops and implements recreation programs.
General supervision is received from the Recreation Director, Recreation Leader or Recreation Assistant I and II. Direct supervision may be provided for recreation leaders and other instructors.

Education: Experience: One (1) year experience serving as a Recreation Instructor or related field (preferred).
Requires use of a personal computer and related software programs, calculator, telephone copy machine and fax machine.
Position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, and turning, kneeling, bending, squatting, and stooping in the performance of daily activities. The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement, and fine coordination in keeping records and preparing reports using a computer keyboard. Additionally, the position requires near and far vision in reading written reports and work-related documents and acute hearing is required when providing phone and personal service. The need to lift, drag, and push files, paper, and equipment weighing 25 pounds or more is also required.
The incumbent may be exposed to fumes, dust, and air contaminants. In addition, depending on the area of assignment, incumbents may be exposed to chemicals, electrical and mechanical hazards, and loud noise. Additionally, the incumbent in this outdoor position works in all weather conditions, including wet, hot, and cold.
