Qualifications

• Previous experience in recreation, activities, therapeutic recreation, or a related field.
• Prior experience in a skilled nursing facility, rehabilitation center, assisted living facility, or senior living setting strongly preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Creative, energetic, compassionate, and personable.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, and oversee a comprehensive recreation program tailored to residents.
• Develop a calendar of daily and weekly activities including games, arts, music, events, and outings.
• Lead and supervise Recreation/Activities staff and ensure coverage and programming.
• Coordinate events, holidays, celebrations, entertainment, and community activities.
• Collaborate with Nursing, Social Services, Therapy, Dietary, and other departments to support resident-centered care.
• Maintain activity documentation, calendars, attendance, and records.
• Participate in care planning and provide input on residents' recreational needs.
• Coordinate with outside entertainers, vendors, volunteers, schools, and partners.
• Ensure the department complies with regulatory and facility requirements.
• Monitor resident satisfaction and look for improvements.

Skilled Nursing Facility

Are you a creative, energetic, and compassionate professional who loves bringing people together? We are seeking an experienced Recreation Director to lead our Activities/Recreation Department and create meaningful, engaging experiences for our residents.

The Recreation Director will be responsible for developing and overseeing a dynamic recreation program that promotes socialization, independence, emotional well-being, and quality of life for our residents.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, and oversee a comprehensive recreation program tailored to the interests, abilities, and needs of our residents.

• Develop a diverse calendar of daily and weekly activities, including games, arts and crafts, music, entertainment, exercise, social events, educational programs, and outings.

• Ensure activities are appropriate for residents with varying cognitive, physical, and functional abilities.

• Encourage resident participation and identify opportunities to increase engagement.

• Lead and supervise Recreation/Activities staff and ensure appropriate coverage and programming.

• Coordinate special events, holiday celebrations, birthday parties, entertainment, and community activities.

• Develop strong relationships with residents and families and incorporate resident preferences into programming.

• Collaborate with Nursing, Social Services, Therapy, Dietary, and other departments to support resident-centered care.

• Maintain accurate activity documentation, calendars, attendance records, and other required records.

• Participate in care planning and provide input regarding residents' recreational and psychosocial needs.

• Coordinate with outside entertainers, vendors, volunteers, schools, community organizations, and other partners.

• Ensure the Recreation Department remains compliant with applicable regulatory and facility requirements.

• Monitor resident satisfaction and continuously look for ways to improve the activity program.

• Maintain a welcoming, positive, and engaging environment throughout the facility.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in recreation, activities, therapeutic recreation, or a related field.

• Prior experience working in a skilled nursing facility, rehabilitation center, assisted living facility, or senior living setting strongly preferred.

• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

• Creative, energetic, compassionate, and personable.

• Ability to work effectively with seniors and individuals with cognitive and physical limitations.

• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships with residents.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead a team effectively.

• Knowledge of person-centered care and senior activities preferred.
