Job summary

Loudoun County Government's Parks, Recreation & Community Services (PRCS) seeks qualified Recreation Instructors to lead arts and crafts, music, dance, cooking, sports, camps, wellness, STEM, and other programming for diverse community members. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong communication and planning skills within a dynamic, growing community.

Qualifications

• Completion of 8th grade, physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and 30 pounds frequently.
• Six months of experience teaching subject matter classes (preferred).
• Bilingual skills are preferred.
• CPR/First Aid certification (preferred).
• Must undergo a criminal background check.
• Schedules are flexible and can include morning, evening, and weekend hours.

Responsibilities

• Motivates class participants and upholds center policies while teaching classes.
• Prepares for class with setup and breakdown of equipment.
• Instructs and monitors participants, ensuring proper form and modifications.
• Completes administrative responsibilities for developing, planning, and leading classes.
• Maintains a clean, safe environment for participants, staff, and other instructors.
• Promotes and seeks new participants and provides exceptional customer service.
• Stays up to date with industry standards and subject matter trends.
• Communicates effectively with staff and all patrons.
• Participates in monthly meetings, events, and in-services.
• May perform additional duties related to their position.

• Actively promotes and seeks new participants for all classes and provides exceptional customer service.
• Stays up to date with industry standards and subject matter trends.
• Communicate effectively with staff and all patrons.
• Participates in monthly meetings, events, and in-services.
• May perform additional duties related to their position.

Hiring salary commensurate with experience.

Minimum Qualifications

• Completion of 8th grade.

• Six (6) months of experience teaching subject matter classes.
• Bilingual skills are preferred.
• CPR/First Aid certification.
