Job summary

Orchard Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is seeking a Recreation Assistant to enhance residents' quality of life through crafts, activities, and social events. The role includes decorating, coordinating programs, and assisting residents with errands and visits.

Shift types include full-time or part-time, with every other weekend required. New hire rate starts at $16/hour, with benefits and room for professional growth.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
• General work experience preferred but not required; training will be provided.
• Ability to perform duties described in the essential functions.

Responsibilities

• Implement Recreation procedures by creating decorations and crafts and escorting residents to Recreation area.
• Assist in scheduling movies, planning parties, and providing games/activities for residents.
• Encourage participation in recreational activities and organize games, crafts, services and parties.
• Assist in-room residents by visiting, writing letters, running errands and making appointments.
• Lead and participate in re-motivation and reality orientation sessions to support residents' self-worth.
• Complete required documentation in residents' medical records.

Essential Functions

1. Implement Recreation procedures as directed by the Recreation Director by creating decorations, setting up necessary equipment, creating ceramics, needlework, woodwork and other crafts, escorting residents to and from Recreation area, and awarding prizes.
2. Assist in scheduling movies, planning parties, and providing games/activities for residents.
3. Encourage residents to participate in recreational social activities so that all residents are involved in activities by engaging in and organizing games, crafts, religious services, parties, etc.

7. Complete required documentation as directed in the resident’s medical record.
