Job summary

Orchard Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Ridgeway, NY is seeking a Recreation Aide to support residents through engaging activities, arts, crafts, and social events, promoting wellbeing and participation.

We offer full-time and part-time shifts with every other weekend required, starting at $16 per hour. Benefits, growth opportunities, and on-the-job training are provided to new hires.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in recreation/activities preferred but not required; training provided.

Responsibilities

• Implement recreation procedures by creating decorations and crafts.
• Assist in scheduling movies, parties, and activities for residents.
• Encourage participation in social activities and organize games and events.
• Assist in-room residents by visiting, writing letters, running errands.
• Guide and participate in motivation and reality orientation sessions.
• Complete required documentation in residents' medical records.

Essential Functions

1. Implement Recreation procedures as directed by the Recreation Director by creating decorations, setting up necessary equipment, creating ceramics, needlework, woodwork and other crafts, escorting residents to and from Recreation area, and awarding prizes.
2. Assist in scheduling movies, planning parties, and providing games/activities for residents.
3. Encourage residents to participate in recreational social activities so that all residents are involved in activities by engaging in and organizing games, crafts, religious services, parties, etc.

5. Assist in-room residents by visiting with them, writing letters, running errands, making appointments, etc., as necessary.
6. Participate and guide individual, and/or group, re-motivation and reality orientation sessions to promote the worth, self-esteem and reality level of the residents.
7. Complete required documentation as directed in the resident’s medical record.
