Job summary

Naval Station Great Lakes is seeking a Recreation Program support specialist to assist with MWR activities and events. Responsibilities include assisting with community events, trips, tours, rental equipment, information resources, and vendor coordination at a fast-paced naval environment.

The ideal candidate will have basic reading comprehension, basic custodial and computer skills, familiarity with point of sale systems, arithmetic, and customer service to meet service standards in the Morale,

Qualifications

• Basic reading comprehension to adhere to rules and procedures
• Basic custodial tasks: sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, wiping, dusting
• Basic computer operations and keyboarding to operate POS systems and desktops
• Basic arithmetic calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
• Basic customer service delivery to identify needs and resolve routine issues
• Basic understanding of MWR department to answer questions or refer to activities

Responsibilities

• Support Recreation Program activities and events (MWR)
• Assist with information/resources, trips/tours/outings, and vendor coordination
• Handle party/picnic rental equipment, resale tickets, Library/Liberty/leisure classes
• Assist in coordinating community events and visiting ships/fleet support
• Support outdoor recreation or similar MWR services as needed

Job description

This position is assigned to the NAF Fleet and Family Readiness Programs, Naval Station Great Lakes. Performs a variety of duties to support the Recreation Program; may include MWR special events, MWR information/resources, command events, visiting ships/fleet support, community events, trips/tours/outings, party/picnic rental equipment, resale tickets, Library, Liberty, leisure skill classes, outdoor recreation or similar MWR recreational services.
